Construction of the New Cathedral began in 1513 and ended in 1733. This long process explains why one building brings together different artistic stages. First observe its volume beside the Old Cathedral, then examine the doorways. The decision to preserve the earlier church reveals a history of enlargement and coexistence, rather than complete replacement, within Salamanca's most prominent religious architectural ensemble.

Two cathedrals in one complex

The Old and New Cathedrals are connected and form one monumental complex. Check the cultural route and included associated spaces, such as the Episcopal Palace under the current official offer. A guided visit may follow a different itinerary.

Ieronimus is a separate visit

Ieronimus explores the complex's towers, passages, stairs and terraces. Do not assume it is included with cultural admission or a Cathedral tour. Check accessibility, weather conditions and available options before booking a climb.

Check tickets and calendar

The Civitatis Cathedral guided visit states that admission is paid separately. Check the total cost and option if combining it with the University. Review language, meeting point and cancellation; worship and other events can alter access.
