Segovia on a rainy day

Antonio Machado lived in this former boarding house between 1919 and 1931, during his years teaching in Segovia. Unlike the grand monuments, the visit offers a domestic scale: rooms, furniture and objects bring the poet closer to everyday life. Before continuing, consider the city as somewhere lived in and written about, rather than merely photographed. The house adds a literary pause to the walk.

Choose one main indoor visit

The Alcázar, Cathedral or Antonio Machado House Museum can fill part of the day indoors. Check access and availability. Avoid consecutive tickets without time to walk between them in the rain.

The walk remains outdoors

The Aqueduct, squares and viewpoints are not sheltered alternatives. Rain can make slopes and paving difficult: shorten your route and check the hourly forecast. Save the valley for better conditions.

A quieter second option

Check the cultural agenda and stop for a meal near your visit. The Mint is in the valley: account for the descent and return rather than treating it as a flat connection between squares.
