The Salzillo Museum invites you to pause before sculpture and its ability to express emotion. Dedicated to Murcia's sculptor Francisco Salzillo, it brings together processional ensembles and the nativity scene, encouraging closer attention to characters, gestures and occupations. The Church of Nuestro Padre Jesús forms part of the complex, so architecture and artworks interact within a religious setting. Do not reduce the visit to photographs: choose one scene and observe the relationships between its figures. This extends your route towards San Agustín and needs time of its own. Check opening arrangements, access and possible collection changes beforehand; this guide does not guarantee every work is displayed.

Plan this visit
From clay to the finished work
The Sketch Room preserves models by Salzillo and his workshop, with labels linking some to images of finished works. Choose a comparison and look for changes in gesture, proportion or folds. We suggest treating the model as a working decision rather than a less important small version: an idea may be retained, revised or never completed.
Organise the visit around scale
If the creative process interests you, spend time on these models before concentrating on larger ensembles. If you prefer scenes and characters, compare that reading with the nativity display afterwards. The museum offers its own guided visit by prior appointment; book that option for questions and shared explanation. An independent route lets you linger over your chosen comparison.
