Casa Colón began as a hotel and now serves cultural and conference activity. Its buildings retain the scale of a city connected to businesses and travellers in the late nineteenth century. Look at pavilions and gardens without assuming every room is open. Exhibitions, conferences and heritage visits can have different access arrangements.

Plan this visit

A former hotel, not the navigator’s home

The Gran Hotel Colón opened in 1883. Its origin helps explain the complex within nineteenth-century Huelva’s business and travel connections. Its name does not mean that Christopher Columbus lived here.

Two ways to visit

Our suggestion is to observe the arrangement of pavilions, then choose a specific cultural activity. Separate the architecture from the day’s programme: an exhibition may justify longer, while an exterior stop fits the walk towards the museum.

Check the activity before entry

Box-office information does not guarantee tourist access to every room. Check the conditions of the exhibition or event you want, rather than organising your route assuming all spaces are open.
