Torreón de Álvar Fáñez

This tower recalls Guadalajara’s gates and walls alongside its palaces. Look at its pentagonal shape and the slope towards Huerta de San Antonio. Its name evokes a conquest legend, not the construction date of the surviving tower. The interior provides historical interpretation. Before descending to the park, assess the gradient and suitable access.

Separate tower and conquest story

The regional source presents the connection with Álvar Fáñez as tradition. First observe how the tower occupies the edge of the ground, then compare that physical building with the interpretation offered inside. You do not need to turn a legend into a construction date to appreciate both readings.

Check today’s visit

The council announced new displays and open-door activities in September 2026. That dated programme does not establish permanent free admission or guided sessions. Check ordinary access and available resources for your day. If continuing to Huerta de San Antonio, plan the return around slopes and time too. The surroundings do not require adding a descent that does not suit your route.
