The walls turn a defensive structure into a viewpoint over roofs and towers. Following them helps explain successive urban enclosures and the role of height in protection. You need not walk the whole circuit. Consider steps, heat and wet surfaces; the map marker is indicative and does not guarantee an accessible entrance.

Plan this visit

Choose an entrance and exit before climbing

The municipal page brings together access points to the walk. We suggest choosing one section and an exit beforehand rather than assuming you must complete the whole enclosure. Relate the exit to your next visit and the effort already spent on Barri Vell slopes.

Use the viewpoint to understand the city

From a permitted position, find a bell tower you have seen on foot and compare its location with rooftops and the city edge. Height then helps organise the route rather than merely providing a panorama. Check current access and hours; a map of entrances does not guarantee a step-free continuous walk or open towers.
