The square helps you understand the old town before entering its lanes. Compare arcades, terraces and public buildings: everyday life matters as much as photographs here. The slope changes your perspective as you walk. Santa María Nai and As Burgas are linked by short routes from this area, allowing a pause before continuing towards the rest of the historic city.

Plan this visit
A modernist detail among the arcades
Alongside the Town Hall, look for Fermín García’s house, identified by Galicia Tourism as a Vázquez Gulías design with tile decoration. We suggest comparing it with a neighbouring façade: materials, openings and the upper profile reveal differences within a space that may initially seem uniform. You need not go inside to make that comparison.
Use the square to organise the route
Choose a direction for your interests: Santa María Nai to compare religious architecture, or As Burgas to follow the relationship between city and water. With an interior visit booked, use the square to organise the remaining walk around that time. A pause beneath the arcades lets you choose without treating every nearby street as a compulsory detour.
