The fountain centres a small square where old-town routes meet. Before continuing towards dining streets, find the figures supporting and crowning its composition. It stood at Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil monastery before moving to Ourense, showing how an object can tell a story of relocation too. Leave space for passing pedestrians and enjoy this intimate corner of the city.

Plan this visit

Read a fountain from bottom to top

Find the supporting figures, then the upper composition with Eros and eagles identified by Galicia Tourism. Follow that visual sequence before looking at the fountain as a whole: this helps recognise how its elements stack and relate. Its move from a monastic courtyard to this crossroads raises a question about how setting changes the reading of an artwork.

From commercial junction to a food break

The municipal listing presents the square as an entrance to Os Viños and a meeting with Santo Domingo street. Choose whether to continue towards the shopping walk or pause among the taverns. You need not try every venue to understand the area: choose a direction and compare its rhythm with Praza Maior rather than adding stops without purpose.
