Santa María Square gives you space to appreciate the cathedral before entering. Andrés de Vandelvira's Renaissance design shaped a building completed over generations. Look at the balance of light, columns and proportions. Allow time for the sacristy and chapter house when included in your ticket. Check your chosen cultural visit and respect religious services.

Plan this visit
Compare façade and plan
The official history distinguishes Vandelvira’s design from the later façade by López de Rojas. We suggest first studying the façade’s organisation from the square and, if entering, the relationship between columns and interior space. Recognising the best-known architect does not mean every feature should be attributed to him.
Choose spaces before entering
Decide between an overview and time for the sacristy, choir or chapter room according to your visit arrangements. A large interior requires observation time rather than simply walking through. Check the admission type and services before organising your day; cultural admission and opening for worship do not necessarily describe the same access.
