Plaza Mayor acts as a hinge between walks. Streets do not meet in a regular grid: they connect slopes, passages and buildings adapted to the terrain. Locate the cathedral and town hall before continuing towards the Hanging Houses or San Miguel. It is a useful place to orient yourself and rest, without assuming every route has the same difficulty. View façades from several positions and leave room for local traffic.

Plan this visit

Read a junction of routes

The municipal listing presents the square as a junction in the old town. We suggest finding the cathedral and town hall first, then identifying your arrival route. This small exercise helps decide the next stage rather than treating the square as separate from the terrain.

Choose a direction by interest

Connections lead towards the Castle or towards the Hanging Houses and San Pablo Bridge. These are different continuations of the walk. Pick a direction according to your interests and available time instead of repeatedly switching between sectors and retracing your steps.

Pause without losing the context

Choose an edge to compare façades and observe movement between streets. A pause can help review bookings and your return route. A square does not mean that onward approaches are level; check the particular route if you need to avoid steps or slopes.
