Espolón promenade

The Espolón connects city and river at a different pace from the narrow old-town streets. This landscaped promenade lets you walk among trees and architecture, pause and look towards the Arlanzón without leaving the centre. Rather than searching only for the next monument, notice how the perspective changes near a bridge or when looking back towards the façades. It is an everyday walking place, not merely a visitor connection. Choose a stretch suited to your available time and leave space for people walking or resting. Adjust your pace on wet ground. From here, cross towards the Museum of Human Evolution or return to Santa María gateway.

Plan this visit

See the promenade from the opposite bank

The municipal listing distinguishes Espolón from Espoloncillo across the river. We suggest comparing façades and trees from both banks, using a permitted bridge to change position. The walk you have just followed becomes part of the landscape, linking Santa María Arch with the cathedral skyline.

Sculpture, trees or the museum connection

Choose one thread: promenade statues, interwoven branches or the crossing towards the Museum of Human Evolution. They are not three compulsory tasks to accumulate. For rest, a short outward walk on one bank and return on the other can structure the break without adding another cultural admission. Compare a place to sit with a place to look across the river before continuing.
